Making Impressions In Santa Fe

Branding? Check. Graphic Design? Check. Illustration? Check! We recently delivered a thick stack of these 18×24 posters to The Oldest House Indian Shop in Santa Fe. Also known as The De Vargas Street House, the structure was built in 1646 and is considered one of the oldest in America. Our approach to the subject was to honor the history of the location as well as pay homage to traditional travel posters. Our feeling is that we have hit the mark for both travelers and locals. If you plan to visit Santa Fe, you can expect to come across this image soon. It is an instant classic destined for distribution in many forms. Get to Oldest House asap if you want one from the first printing.

MurosAbq & Studio Hill Design Around the World

MurosAbq continues to celebrate GraffitiMundo in this snappy little video highilighting just glimpse of the beautiful wall art we saw in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. Our legs are a little sore and our stomachs a little weary but all the wondrous color made the trip well worth the journey. Glad to be home in the 505.

Mural Tours around the World – Studio Hill Design & MurosAbq.com, Off the Beaten Path

GraffitiMundo is Spanish for Graffiti World. And clearly, street art has become a worldwide phenomenon. When I took that fateful tour with GrafittiMundo in Argentina last February, I had no idea it would inspire an entirely new focus for Studio Hill Design. Now, after months of building MurosABQ.com, our website directory of Albuquerque’s high quality murals, the adventure continues. This year, my destination was San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. The local group Muros en Blanco has worked with international artists and Mexican government entities to create an entirely new mural scene in SMdA all since 2012, when murals first became legal.

The following images are a few samples of the hundreds of quality murals that can be seen in this beautiful city. (If you’re in the neighborhood, check out the walking tour offered by Muros en Blanco.) Clearly, Albuquerque has room for more great street art!

Albuquerque’s Mural Directory

Here is a promo we put together for our little side project MurosAbq.

MurosABQ is Albuquerque’s Mural Directory.

A special thank you goes out to Maddox & Co. and Garcia Automotive Group who stepped up to help fund the ambitious effort to get MurosABQ.com started. Information and support for the website were provided by Downtown Albuquerque Arts & Cultural District, City of Albuquerque Public Art, 516 ARTS, Warehouse 508, Working Classroom, and “a biz by bre.”

…and we’ve only just begun.

In the spirit of the season

Today, Studio Hill Design is supporting some deserving, less fortunate, fur covered friends. We’ll be delivering lunch and a donation to the hard working volunteers and staff at the Valencia County Animal Shelter. The VCAS has limited resources, yet takes in a stunning amount of homeless animals and does their best to make them comfortable and find them “furever“ homes. Thanks for all you do,VCAS.

New Mexico MEP’s brand new office needed a little customization to make it uniquely their own. Studio Hill designed and created manufacturing-themed wallpaper to coordinate with the paint and flooring we had chosen for the space. The splashy result cheers up everyone who passes by while simultaneously building the MEP brand.

On Sunday evening, the city’s first official mural trolley tour took to the streets. In spite of Albuquerque’s first cold snap of the season, a jolly band of locals and tourists boarded the open air deck on one of Albuquerque Trolley Co.’s newset and most exciting services.

Concepted by Studio HIll Design, Mural Fest and Albuquerque Trolley Co., the tour featured at least 50 murals painted throughout the Downtown and Nob Hill areas. Most of those murals can also be seen by visiting MurosABQ.com, Albuquerque’s first and best online mural directory.
